Exclusive to the British Museum, a greetings card featuring an ink drawing of an ancient Egyptian temple ruin.

The card is part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Hieroglyphs: unlocking ancient Egypt.

This greetings card is printed in the UK and is blank inside for your message.

The image on this greetings card is a drawing by the French painter and draughtsman, Baron Dominique Vivant Denon (1747-1825), depicting the ruins of a temple roof at Apollinopolis Parva. The temple is decorated with an enormous sun god, and the landscape surrounding it contains other architectural structures, clusters of people, and animal skeletons. The drawing is a study for plate 80 of Denon’s 1802 book, Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute Egypte, pendant les campagnes du Général Bonaparte.

An intriguing card to send to a lover of ancient architecture.
