Scarab Box Ornament
A resin ornament inspired by ancient Egyptian scarab beetles.
This two-part ornament can be opened by lifting the beetle’s body to store jewellery, coins or small trinkets. The inside of the lid features Egyptian hieroglyphs etched in gold, and larger hieroglyph symbols can be seen on the scarab's back.
In ancient Egypt, the scarab dung beetle was associated with the rising sun and eternal existence. Ancient Egyptians witnessed scarab beetles pushing balls of dung up hills, and believed the sun to be propelled around the earth in the same way; pushed by a giant beetle. Scarabs were seen as powerful amulets, as they symbolised regeneration.
A charming home ornament inspired by ancient Egypt.
