A two-part scarab ornament, inspired by ancient Egypt.

In ancient Egypt, scarabs (dung beetles) represented the rising sun and eternal existence. This is because the insect pushes a ball of dung around - and the Egyptians thought the sun was propelled around the earth in the same way, by a giant beetle.

Small figures like these have been found in countless tombs and they are thought to have been placed there to recreate a suitable environment for the gods of the afterlife.

This two-part ornament is handy for storing jewellery, stationery or other knick knacks, or as a historical display for your home.

A resin ornament inspired by ancient Egyptian scarab beetles.

This two-part ornament can be opened by lifting the beetle’s body to store jewellery, coins or small trinkets. The inside of the lid features Egyptian hieroglyphics etched in gold, and larger hieroglyph symbols can be seen on the scarab's back.

In ancient Egypt, the scarab dung beetle was associated with the rising sun and eternal existence. Ancient Egyptians witnessed scarab beetles pushing balls of dung up hills, and believed the sun to be propelled around the earth in the same way; pushed by a giant beetle. Scarabs were seen as powerful amulets, as they symbolised regeneration.
