Sutton Hoo Helmet Mug

The famous helmet was discovered at Sutton Hoo, an important archaeological site in Suffolk, England. The original dates to the early 7th century and comprises of an iron cap, neck guard, cheek pieces and a face guard featuring panels decorated with animals and heroic scenes of warriors.
The original helmet was discovered in the late 1930s together with other priceless treasures in the great mound at Sutton Hoo, Suffolk, by the archaeologist Basil Brown. He was employed by the owner of the estate, Edith Pretty, who generously donated the whole find to the British Museum.
