A ring made from tagua nut - a vegetable ivory native to South America. Each ring is one-of-a-kind and colours vary from ring to ring.

The tagua tree grows in the heart of the Amazon and is also known as the ivory palm. It produces an extraordinary fruit, the tagua nut, which has been used for buttons, jewellery and carved objects for centuries.

The nut is harvested and then left to dry for three years. Once it is harvested it is cut into manageable pieces then polished, shaped and coloured with natural dyes.

This ring is made by Rainstick - a fairtrade initiative based in Colombia. The purchase of this piece supports the employment of nearly 35,000 indigenous people.
