A mounted postcard of a detail from Ten Inch Birds tile (c. 1882-1888) by William De Morgan.

William De Morgan (1839-1917) was an English potter, tile designer and novelist of the Arts and Crafts Movement. He produced thousands of innovative designs for tiles, vases and dishes and collaborated with William Morris for many years. De Morgan's imaginative depictions of fish, animals and birds became his most recurring and recognisable motifs.

In this detail of a glazed, painted and slipped earthenware tile three blue birds sit amongst a foliage.

A wonderful gift celebrating British art and culture.
