Tower Bridge is a swing bridge which spans the River Thames in the heart of London. Built between 1886 and 1894, the bridge is passable by both car and foot, and its twin towers are accessible to tourists. During its construction, the first stone was laid by Albert, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII of England (1841-1910). During the 2012 Summer Olympics, the five Olympic rings were suspended on the bridge. Tower Bridge has become an icon for the City of London.
