Exclusive

Exclusive to the British Museum, a clay vase depicting a scene from the ancient Greek myth of Heracles.

This striking vase has been carefully crafted from Attic clay, and is based on an original housed in the collection of the British Museum. The design is a beautifully-detailed black-figure image of the Hero Heracles (also Herakles, or Hercules in Roman mythology), presenting the Erymanthian boar to the goddess Athena.

Heracles features in a number of the ancient Greek myths, but most famously is known for his ‘Twelve Labours’ which were performed in the service of the Mycenaean king Eurystheus in penance for the murder of Heracles’ own wife and children.

A majestic home ornament celebrating the ancient Greek tales.
