Delicate bronze earrings set with labradorites and pearls, with honey topaz stones suspended below. These earrings are inspired by a stunning piece of jewellery in the historic Waddesdon Bequest.

About the Waddesdon range

Designed exclusively for The British Museum by Nicky Butler, this range of jewellery has been inspired by jewellery from the historic Waddesdon Bequest, donated to The British Museum by Baron Ferdinand Anselm Rothschild.

These designs have been based on elements from a jewelled gold pendant in the Bequest. The pendant is set with cabochon emeralds in the form of a hippocamp (a mythological sea-horse) ridden by a small female figure wearing a feather diadem and holding a trident. The body of the animal is chased with cartouches, enamelled, and set with graduated emeralds. The original piece is suspended from a double chain with four pearls, with a cartouche set with emerald and a pearl pendant suspended from it.

This range has been created by the designer using details of the original translated into his own design style and features semi-precious stones and pearls that evoke the feel of the original.

Each piece has been hand set by a dedicated team of artisans in Jaipur, India using stones personally selected for their quality and beauty by Nicky Butler.

Each piece comes with a card of provenance.

Exclusive to the British Museum, a beautiful pair of earrings inspired by jewellery from the Waddesdon Bequest.

The design is based on the extraordinary 16th and 17th century jewels which form part of the Waddesdon Bequest, a collection of over 300 artefacts donated to the British Museum by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in 1898.
