Waddesdon Pearl Pendant Necklace
Exclusive to the British Museum, a pendant necklace inspired by an ornate jewel from the Waddesdon Bequest.
The necklace is crafted from 18 carat gold-plated pewter finished with Austrian crystals and a freshwater pearl.
The design is based on a detail from a gold 16th century pendant jewel in the form of an enamelled warrior riding a white horse. The horse is inlaid with rubies and is suspended from an emerald cartouche with a teardrop pearl pendant which inspired this piece. The pendant was gifted to the British Museum in 1898 by Baron Ferdinand Anselm Rothschild as part of the Waddesdon Bequest.
